What this code means
F21
F21 indicates a drain problem on Maytag front-load washers.
When a front-load Maytag washer shows F21, the water is not leaving the way it should. Maytag’s help page puts it simply: F21 indicates a drain problem.
Check the drain hose
Two questions come first. Is the drain hose kinked? Is it clogged?
Cycle the power
After the hose check, reset the washer control. Unplug the washer, wait 5 minutes, plug it back in. Maytag points out that this reset can sometimes solve the problem.
