What this code means
F0 E4
F0 E4 means the washer senses the water temperature is too hot.
Water temperature code
F0 E4 appears when a Maytag washer senses that the water is too hot. On front load washers the meaning is that spin speed is limited to 500 RPM because the water is too hot for the final spin. On top load washers it means high water temperature during the rinse cycle, 105 F (41 C) or higher.
What Maytag asks you to do
- Verify that the water hoses are installed correctly and switched between the hot and cold lines.
- Cycle power to the control: disconnect it from the power source for 5 minutes, which means unplugging the washer, then plug it back in.
