What this code means
F0 E5
F0 E5 means an off-balance load was detected.
Off-balance load
The cycle may run longer than displayed, or clothes may still be dripping wet, because a sizable unbalanced load reduces spin speed and removes less water.
Front load washers
If the load is not dripping wet, the cycle finished as expected and no action is needed. If it is dripping, remove a few items and run a “Drain & Spin” cycle; do not pack the load tightly. For a single bulky item such as a rug or jeans jacket, add a few extra garments to balance it before Drain & Spin.
Top load washers
- Cancel the cycle with the Start button or by disconnecting the power cord.
- If water is present, run a drain-only cycle.
- Rearrange the clothes or remove some items so the load is level and not overloaded. Maytag suggests the Bulky or Heavy Duty cycle.
- Optionally, run Drain & Spin to extract water after rearranging.
If the cycle can be paused, press Start, open the lid, rearrange or reduce the load, and press Start again.
