LF on a Maytag top load washer is a long fill: the washer is taking too long to fill.
What this code means
LF
LF, like F8 E1, means long fill: the washer is taking too long to fill.
LF, also shown as F8 E1, is a long fill alert on a Maytag top load washer. The washer is taking too long to fill.
Water supply
Make sure both inlet hoses are connected and both the hot and cold water supplies are turned on, with both faucets opened completely. The washer has sensors that detect the water supply and needs water going to the water valve through both hoses. If it does not detect both, the control finds a problem with the water pressure sensor, the lid locks, and the machine enters a pump-out mode for 8 minutes.
Drain hose
A drain hose that extends more than 4.5″ (114 mm) into the standpipe can make the washer siphon, filling and draining at the same time, so it never reaches the expected level. Use the U-shaped drain hose form, attach the hose securely to the drainpipe or tub, and keep only 4.5″ (113 mm) of hose in the drainpipe. Do not tape over the drain opening. The minimum standpipe height is 39″ (99 cm). Straighten any kink and clear any blockage.
Related codes
Ld is the long drain counterpart, and HC means the hot and cold hoses are reversed.
