PF on a Maytag dryer means a power failure has interrupted the drying cycle.
What this code means
PF
Power failure interrupted the drying cycle.
PF stands for power failure. It tells you the drying cycle was interrupted. Touch and hold START to restart the cycle, or press POWER to clear the display.
Why PF can appear
After a power outage the control may show PF if the supply line carried unexpected “noise” that it read as an incorrect voltage. Pressing any keys before the 10-second delay at power-up can also bring it on.
If there was a recent outage
For a standard dryer, turn off the household circuit breaker for 5 minutes, turn it back on, and watch the dryer for 5 minutes to be sure the code does not return. Then check that the dryer runs normally.
The commercial-grade version of the page uses 1 minute off and 1 minute of monitoring. It also says that if the dryer was installed recently, within approximately 3 months, a qualified electrician should verify the electrical supply.
Related codes
L2 points to low or no line voltage, and Loc points to a locked control.
