Code overview
- Error code
- F8 E6
- Appliance
- Washer
On Maytag top load washers F8 E6 can mean the lid is open during soak or no hot water was detected, for example from reversed hoses.
What this code means
F8 E6
Depending on the model, the lid is open during the soak cycle or no hot water was detected, possibly because the hot and cold hoses are installed the wrong way round.
Maytag says F8 E6 on a top load washer has two possible meanings, depending on the model.
Two explanations
- The lid is open during the soak cycle. Close the lid to resume the cycle.
- No hot water was detected. Work through the checks below.
Are the hoses reversed?
The code can mean the hot and cold inlet hoses were installed incorrectly: the cold water hose is connected to the hot water inlet and the hot water hose to the cold water inlet. Swap them, then run another cycle.
Is the water turned on?
Both the hot and cold valves must be fully open, and both inlet hoses must be connected for the washer to run correctly.
Last resort at home
Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, restore power, and watch the display.
