- Washer
F1 E2 is a motor drive over-voltage message on front-load Maytag washers and a motor control fault on top-load ones.
What this code means
F1 E2
F1 E2 means the main control sees a motor drive problem (front load) or a fault in its motor control section (top load).
Both layouts of Maytag washer can show F1 E2, and the wording differs. On front-load washers it is a motor drive module over-voltage message: the main control has detected a problem in the motor drive. On top-load washers it is described as a fault in the motor control section of the main control.
What Maytag asks the owner to do
Take the power away from the control for 5 minutes. For a plugged-in washer that simply means unplugging it, waiting, and plugging it in again, then watching the display for F1 E2.
Related
The main control also reports F1 E1, a general ACU fault. Display-panel trouble is a different family, for instance F2 E1 (a button the panel believes is held down) and F2 E2 (the panel disconnected from the ACU).
