Maytag Washer F8 E1 Error Code

F8 E1, shown on some displays as Lo FL or LF, means the Maytag washer is not detecting the correct amount of incoming water. It covers front load and top load washers, and Maytag describes it as the washer taking too long to fill.

If the door is locked and the buttons do nothing

Press the power button. The washer starts a drain routine of approximately 8 to 10 minutes with the pump running the whole time, and the control accepts no input meanwhile. Wait for it to finish before trying anything else.

Water supply checks

• Open both the hot and cold faucets or valves all the way. Both hoses must be connected for the washer to work properly.
• Make sure the inlet hoses are not kinked.
• Connect the hot (red) hose to the hot (red) valve and the cold (blue) hose to the cold (blue) valve.
• Look for anti-flood devices in the water line. Maytag says they can reduce the water pressure and the amount of water entering the washer.

Screens and hoses

Turn off the water supply, remove the hoses and look at the inlet screens, which can clog with mineral build-up or debris. Clean or replace them as needed. With the hoses off, run water through each hose at a sink; if the stream is restricted, replace the hose.

Clearing the code

On front load models Maytag says to press the Pause or Cancel button twice and the Power button once.
