FC E1 means an over-the-range Maytag microwave could not connect to the router.
What this code means
FC E1
FC E1 is a connected-appliance Wi-Fi problem: the microwave could not connect to the router.
FC E1 tells you the microwave could not connect to your router. The Maytag help lists a connection time out, poor signal strength, a failed router, the Wi-Fi module in the microwave, or the associated wiring as possibilities. It applies to over-the-range models.
Step 1: reset the microwave
Turn the circuit breaker(s) off for one (1) minute, turn them on, then watch for one (1) minute to be sure FC E1 is gone. Verify the microwave works.
Step 2: reset the router
If the Wi-Fi module and the router have no link, reset the router. First check whether another Wi-Fi device, such as a phone or tablet, works properly; carry it to the microwave to test. If it does, unplug the router for 2 minutes and plug it back in, then disconnect the microwave power for 2 minutes and reconnect.
Weak signal
Without full bars, you can move the router, add a compatible signal extender, or contact your Internet Service Provider.
Other FC codes
- FC E2: another connection error in the same series
- FC E3: another connection error, same fix
