Maytag Dryer F4 E4 Error Code

An F4 E4 diagnostic code (Low or No Line Voltage) means there may be a problem with your home power supply, keeping the dryer’s heater from turning on. Touch any pad to clear it and return to the estimated time remaining. Maytag lists it for household and commercial dryers.

Have you checked your breakers?

An electric dryer needs a separate 30-amp circuit fused on both sides of the line, so two circuit breakers operate it: one circuit runs the motor that turns the drum, the other runs the heating element. If one has tripped, the dryer may not heat. Check that neither is tripped, and replace the fuse or reset the breaker as needed.

Power supply and cord

Electric dryers need a 240-volt supply; without it the dryer will not work correctly, so ask a qualified electrician. Make sure the power cord is installed properly, using the installation instructions for 3-wire or 4-wire hookups. Terminal screws at the dryer should be tight, and the dryer must be unplugged before you check them.

Cycle power

1. Turn off the circuit breaker(s) for 5 minutes.
2. Turn them back on.
3. Start a time dry cycle, preferably a Timed Dry heated cycle.
4. Monitor for 5 minutes. If the message persists, consult a qualified electrician.
