F3 E5 on a Maytag dryer means five loads in a row were dried without moisture sensor data. Pressing Power clears it.
What this code means
F3 E5
Five consecutive loads were dried without registering moisture sensor data.
F3 E5 is a moisture sensor message. It shows when five consecutive loads have been dried without the dryer registering any moisture sensor data. Maytag lists it for household dryers and for commercial dryers.
Clear the code and look at the basics
Press the Power button to clear the code and restart the machine. If it returns, call for service. Two things are worth a look first.
- Is the dryer level? When the dryer sits out of level, laundry may never touch the moisture sensors in the drum. Put a level on it and turn the dryer feet as needed. Because the tops can be curved, take the reading from the cabinet edge or some other surface.
- Was it a small load? A tiny load or a single item may not reach the sensors. Dry bigger loads, or select an Automatic cycle rather than Timed Dry.
Power cycle
Still there? Cut power at the breaker(s) for 5 minutes and restore it. A time dry cycle comes next; stay near the dryer for 5 minutes and see whether F3 E5 shows up once more.
The commercial dryer entry gives the same power cycle, with one minute of monitoring instead of five.
