What this code means
F6 E3
Excessive suds.
F6 E3 tells you a Maytag dishwasher has excessive suds. Maytag’s advice is to remove the suds and run a clean wash cycle.
Why suds matter
If the sensing system detects foam or suds, the dishwasher may not operate properly or may not fill with water. Look at the bottom of the tub for foam.
Where suds come from
- The wrong type of detergent, such as laundry detergent, hand soap or dish detergent made for hand washing.
- The rinse aid dispenser cap not replaced after filling or refilling.
- Too much dishwasher detergent.
If suds are present
- Scoop out as many suds as you can with a plastic cup.
- Take the dishes out and put 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable cooking oil in the bottom of the dishwasher to suppress suds.
- Run a full cycle with no detergent or dishes.
- Follow with another full cycle: fill the dispenser cups with detergent, but add no dishes.
